Kabuki Show at Bellagio Fountains Reels In the Crowds with Large Format Projection

LAS VEGAS — Especially for those who arrived early enough for a good vantage point, a series of Japanese Kabuki performances, staged Aug. 14, 15 and 15 at the Bellagio Hotel’s fountains, backed live action scenes with the spectacle of large-format video projections sweeping across the breadth of the curtain of mist formed by the fountains themselves. Panasonic projectors were used for the unique spectacle.

Panasonic, Shochiku, MGM Resorts, WET and teamLab collaborated  on August 14th to bring this contemporary version of this ancient Japanese theater, Kabuki for the first time to at the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas with  a high-tech performance of  Panasonic presents Koi-Tsukami (Fight with a Fish).On August 14th in the Bellagio Hotel/MGM, Las Vegas, Panasonic debuted & presented the Japanese Kabuki masterpiece “Koi-Tsukami,” or “Fight with a Carp,” with live performances along the Bellagio Fountains, from renowned Japanese Kabuki actors Ichikawa Somegoro and Nakamura Yonekichi.

The death-defying Kabuki Spectacle brought a contemporary element that included a background water screen projection along the Fountains of Bellagio which were transformed into Japan’s Lake Biwa, the attraction features a total of 1,214 fountains that can soar to 460 feet and span more than 1,000 feet and interactive onstage backdrops via projectors.

All technology utilized 15 of Panasonic’s PT-DZ21K which showcased the 165 foot stage and a panoramic water screen projection  of 60 feet in height and 984 feet in length.
