BELFAST – On Feb. 28, Odyssey Arena hosted the first boxing match relayed on live TV in the U.K. since 2008. IBF super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton defended his title against American Chris Avalos. Creative Technology’s (CT) supplied I-Mag screens rigged above the ring along with four 18 square meter displays flown from truss and fed with the live footage, which was also broadcast on ITV.

More details from Creative Technology (www.ct-group.com):

Boxing in his home city, Frampton, also known as “The Jackal,” defeated Avalos in five rounds and continued his winning streak.

As a world leading supplier of AV equipment, Creative Technology’s (CT) services were engaged, supplying the IMAG screens rigged above the ring. Four 18sqm displays were flown from truss and fed with the live footage also broadcast on ITV.

Paul Seeger, CT Project Manager, commented: “This was an important fight in the boxing calendar with 11,000 people watching in the sold-out Arena.

“Our aim was to enhance the audience’s experience which was achieved through the use of our new 7mm resolution tiles. With their high levels of brightness and contrast, these LED screens provided an incredibly clear display and complemented the lighting rigged above the ring.”
