MONTREAL – For projections on the ice at Air Canada Centre, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) turned to Solotech and dynamic content specialist 4U2C for a visual assist. The Sept. 8, 2014 deal led to arena-spanning visuals supporting both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors games earlier this season.
More details from Solotech (www.solotech.com) and 4U2C (www.4u2c.com):
On October 29th 2014, professional sports fans were treated to another high intensity pre-game show with the opening of the NBA Toronto Raptors season designed by Solotech and 4U2C. Indeed, on September 8th, the two partner companies Solotech and 4U2C were awarded by the Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) the contract for the visual animation of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre
In this mandate the goal was to energize the crowd. With the Maple Leafs more focus was put on their logo that symbolizes both unity and diversity and on their unique world while in the case of the Raptors, they wanted to present the players and show a lot of impressive 3D effects.
The realization of the mandate is the result of a close collaboration between Solotech’s and 4U2C’s technical and creative teams with MLSE. Partner to 4U2C on many major projects and with extensive expertise in on-court and ice video mapping, Solotech was mandated to provide all the projection equipment for the events, including sophisticated software developed specifically for these applications.
“The biggest challenge for this project was respecting the delivery time. Between the confirmation of the customer’s order and the opening of the season of the Toronto Maple Leafs, for example, we had about a few weeks. About seven weeks to create two technological concepts incorporating twelve 20K projectors “, explains Ron Morissette, General Manager Sales & Integration Division for Solotech Toronto.
We can definitely say that Solotech and 4U2C rose to the challenge with gusto! The shows which last a few minutes and combines 3D effects, video mapping and edited footage literally ignited the hearts of the Maple Leafs and those of the Toronto Raptors.
Following these impressive results, one can expect that the duo Solotech / 4U2C will soon bring its expertise to other arenas across North America!
