LAS VEGAS – How do you top something that’s already become one of the most iconic and widely followed lightshows ever? It isn’t easy, but somehow this is exactly what seems to happen every year at Electric Daisy Carnival, Insomniac Events’ internationally acclaimed three-day EDM festival.

This year’s Electric Daisy Carnival drew over 390,000 fans from every state and 40 countries, according to published reports. They were treated to a brain-tingling eye-popping show designed by Steve Lieberman of SJ Lighting (Agoura Hills, CA) on the 200’ wide by 80’ high EDC Basspod Stage.

The show, which illustrated what can happen when a lighting design that’s pushed beyond the outer limits wraps itself around some of the best electronic dance music, featured 82 Nexus 4 x 4 COB LED panels from Chauvet Professional that highlighted the massive truss rig.

Building a big stage outdoors in the desert is never easy, but this year’s EDC project was even more problematic than usual as a result of the higher than normal temperatures and persistently strong winds. Crews didn’t start working until 7 pm and they kept at it until 5 am to avoid the heat.

As acclaimed as the Basspod Stage design was at the 2014 Electric Daisy Carnival, the EDC team didn’t spend time reveling in its glory. Instead, they were already looking ahead to making the production bigger, better, more immersive and more creative than ever next year.
