WEST LONDON, UK — Lighting and visuals rental specialist Colour Sound Experiment has invested in nearly 100 new Robe lighting fixtures for its upcoming summer season including 60 multi-purpose Robe Robin Pointe luminaires. Pictured here is Colour Sound’s Haydn Cruickshank with one of his new Robe fixtures.

More details from Colour Sound Experiment (www.coloursound.co.uk):

Last year Colour Sound supplied lighting production, LED screens, LED festoon lighting and crew to more than 50 festivals and music events across the UK, and their 2014 summer season looks to be equally busy, kicking off at the end of May with We Are FSTVL in Upminster, east London.

Also included in the order with the 60 x Pointes were 16 x  ROBIN MMX Spots and 16 x LEDWash 600s, together with four of Robe’s award-winning ROBIN MiniMe effects units.

Colour Sound’s Haydn Cruickshank (H) explains that the MMXs and LEDWash 600s were to top up their existing stocks of these workhorse products. With this latest purchase – delivered by Robe UK – Colour Sound now has over 450 Robes out of its total inventory of 800 plus moving lights.

“Many LDs are asking for the Pointes – they are definitely one of the products of ‘the moment,’” states H, “So we need to have them available. Being a multi-purpose unit they are ultimately useful and seem to perform each of the Spot, Wash, Beam and effects functions extremely well. This also makes them a really cost-efficient option – one light can go a long way!” This is always good news for rental operations!

Colour Sound first invested in the Robe brand about 5 years ago. “The products are extremely robust and well-engineered,” comments H, “And that’s essential for a busy rental company where quick turnarounds are vital – we need kit that is as rugged and reliable as possible”.

He purchased Colour Sound’s initial four MiniMes to service their corporate event work, which is also busy, and enjoying some buoyancy as the UK economy is finding its feet again. “I think they will be perfect for corporate branding and logos … essentially I see them as a modern and more versatile version of the classic Solar 250 projector. It was such an epic product … and one that up to now has never been replaced!”

In 2013 Colour Sound delivered lighting and visuals to a host of cutting-edge Festivals including Glastonbury, Creamfields, Reading / Leeds, Field Day, The Secret Garden Party and numerous others. They are currently preparing for an equally hectic and diverse summer 2014 season.
