WALDBÜTTELBRUNN, Germany — Swedish rock band Royal Republic as been relying on lighting technology made by Steinigke, based here. The band’s lighting rig for their Save the Nation tour through Germany included Futurelight and Eurolite fixtures.

More details from Steinigke Showtechnic (www.steinigke.de):

A rock concert without a light show is no rock concert — the Swedish rock band Royal Republic knows that. They also know what it feels like to stand on big stages with massive light constructions — like at Rock im Park, the Highfield or Deichbrand festival. For their Germany tour in November 2013, they decided to travel with their own equipment for the first time.

Adam Grahn“That was something we’ve always wanted to do — and this is the time that we actually were able to make it happen for the first time. We thought that if we wanted to compete with this or that band, we need to step up a bit,” said frontman Adam Grahn.

With four Eurolite PMC-16x30W COB clusters, four powerful Futurelight PLB-230 Moving Heads and six Eurolite NSF-300 foggers, they made it happen. Light designer Thomas Kosslik drafted a light show, which overwhelmed both band and audience. It was important to him that they could realize the basic features of the light show with their own devices: “I know what I have and I know that it works. The show runs, no matter what happens. That is really calming.”

“It was important for us to create a special look, a feel for every song,” Grahn added. “We started this on this tour now and it feels pretty good.”

The Swedes are on the road again, once more with Steinigke equipment, for their unplugged tour. In the future, the musicians don’t want to do without the visual support, reveals the lead singer:

“When I’m on stage, I know, that if I would stand in the front row right now, I would have the time of my life.”
