After years at Earl’s Court, PLASA moved its annual exhibition to open, airy and modern ExCeL London for 2013. More than 11,000 attended, including 2,200 international visitors from at least 84 countries, and the educational program included highlights from Eurovision 2013, the Glastonbury festival, West End theatrical productions and the 2013 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The new product offerings from the event’s 275 exhibitors was, of course, a key focal point. Buzz-worthy innovations ranged from Le Mark/Dirty Rigger’s Glowman series gloves with mini-LEDs built in to a fully animatronic camel from IBS group.

Others drawing attention included ChamSys (MagicQ Media Server), LDR (Alba LED profile), MA Lighting (MA VPU basic and light), Miltec (Mini-Map LED screen), Robert Juliat (motorized Fresnel yokes) and Roland (VR-50HD AV mixer).

Artistic Licence turned more than a few heads with their nanoScope, Art-Osc and eSense. Cooper Controls, now part of the Eaton Corporation, featured the SCD Server and SCD Server Pro along with new Zero 88 dimmers (Chilli 2410i 1212 and 2416i 1212) for venues using both dimming and switched power. And Wireless DMX, touting a free update for all existing G4 products to G4S, also contributed to the event’s traditionally festive ambience with their annual Swedish Vodka Party.
