PRG’s RH+A division now offers the Ultraviolet series of lights, including the UV Bullet and UV Wash. While developed with architectural lighting installations in mind, these fixtures can also be used for entertainment industry applications, ranging from amusement parks and haunted house attractions to “cosmic” bowling and nightclub dance floors.
Over the years, Production Resource Group (PRG) has grown horizontally and vertically, expanding its operations around the globe and venturing beyond tour lighting rentals into video and sound production.
The company’s target markets have expanded as well, from touring productions to installations, and it now has a division, RH+A, dedicated to retail, hospitality and architectural lighting installations.
The company has also pushed into manufacturing its own products for rental customers in recent years, with products such as its Bad Boy and Best Boy lines of moving lights.
The UV Bullet
The UV Bullet’s compact size — its components fit within a zone measuring only about 5 by 5 by 8 inches in size — has advantages for both architectural and entertainment uses. Despite the compact form factor, it packs a considerable array of features and output capabilities, with a 365 nanometer UV-A-LED emitter for blacklight effects with minimal visible light. The luminaire, which dims smoothly over the whole output range, draws only 18 watts.
The fixture has an 8:1 focus range zoom—from a tight 7° spot to a fat 55° flood. The focus mechanism requires no lens change or tools and is lockable for permanent installations.
A range of mounting options are available, including a variety of clamps and a floor base, as well as a remote driver box option to accommodate any installation. The UV Bullet can be controlled via DMX or with pre-programmed onboard options including strobe, fade, and manual dimming.
The UV Bullet’s range of available accessories include a barndoor, snoot and linear spread diffusion. Both the UV Bullet and UV Wash meet ETL, cETL, and CE safety standards.
The UV Wash
The UV Wash is also compact, measuring only a bit more than 8.5 by 7 by 4.5 inches. It comes with 10° native lensing for a relatively precise and powerful beam of UV light output, and optional linear, medium, and wide flood lenses are available for covering broader areas with more of a UV wash effect. The accessory holder accepts industry standard 7.5-inch accessories such as a barndoor?or snoot, and the Wash is also lockable for permanent installations.
The luminaire is supplied with an electronic multi-voltage power supply and a DMX-512A interface with feed-thru data capabilities?via two RJ45 ports. DMX addressing and pre-programmed onboard options include strobe, fade, and manual dimming, and they can be assigned via three onboard rotary dials. The fixture can be mounted via a pipe clamp or by using a table/floor base accessory.
