SEOUL – During a midnight concert April 11 at Seoul’s World Cup Stadium, international pop sensation Psy soared across the venue at 8.2m (27 feet) per second, amidst the glow of light sticks being waved by 80,000 fans below. The spectacular moment was simultaneously experienced by the more than 150,000 online viewers across the globe, who tuned in to watch the event via a live broadcast.
Tait/FTSI was at the helm of the feat, which was achieved with merely three days of programming and one day of rehearsals, leading up to opening night. Tait/FTSI’s experienced automation team used the Navigator Control System to program three separate flight patterns, each ranging about five minutes in length.
The area for performer flying had a perimeter of 91.4m (308 ft) by 121.9mf (400 ft) with an elevation peak of 22.9m (75 feet) high. Visibly overcome by the impact of it all, the elated artist was moved to tears at one point during the performance.
