STAMFORD, CT — After completing its acquisition of Martin Professional A/S of Denmark, Harman announced on March 6 that Lars Dige Knudsen, a 17-year Martin veteran, most recently as CFO, would be taking over for Martin’s previous CEO, Christian Engsted, who has left the company. Knudsen’s new title at Harman is Vice President, General Manager, Lighting Strategic Business Unit. Harman also announced that Villads Thomsen, a 14-year Martin veteran, most recently as VP Sales/EMEA, had been promoted to VP of Global Sales for the Lighting Strategic Business Unit.
Harman cited the EUR 110 million acquisition, announced Dec. 19, 2012, as a way to expand its customer base and to provide existing customers with a greater range of products and solutions.
“As we move forward together and institute Martin Professional as a business unit within Harman Professional, our customers from both the lighting and AV disciplines will soon be able to capitalize on joint innovations, efficiencies and access to our systems portfolios,” said Blake Augsburger, president Harman Professional.
Harman’s lighting division is also in the process of launching new products across all of its product lines, including an expansion of the MAC Viper line. The company is also active within the LED video, lighting control and smoke machine sectors.
