SANTA MONICA, CA – Video equipment rental company Pete’s Big TVs of New Castle, DE, supplied equipment and crew for the Cartoon Network’s Hall of Game Awards 2013 in Santa Monica, CA. Designed for fans to honor their favorite sports celebrities and sports moments of the year, the event design called for a “high energy, off-the-wall, multi-platform experience.” Pete’s Big TVs worked with Dempsey Productions, LD Tom Kenny and set designer Anton Goss to fulfill the experiential requisite, using digiLED high resolution video panels for the visual environment.

NEW CASTLE, DE – Video equipment rental company Pete’s Big TVs supplied equipment and crew for the Cartoon Network’s Hall of Game Awards 2013. The third annual event took place Feb. 9 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA.
Designed for fans to honor their favorite sports celebrities and sports moments of the year, the event design called for a “high energy, off-the-wall, multi-platform experience.” Pete’s Big TVs worked with Dempsey Productions, LD Tom Kenny and set designer Anton Goss to fulfill the experiential requisite.
Guy Benjamin, vice president of Pete’s Big TVs, was project manager on the scene, overseeing their supply of digiLED MC7 and digiLED MC15 high res video panels. There were multiple layers and levels for the screens, adding texture and interest throughout the set.
“We used a combination of MC7 and MC15 panels,” Benjamin said. “The four screens of MC7 were approximately 8 x 12 feet. We used about 120 panels of MC15 as facing for different parts of the stage. We also had a 22 x 36 ft rear projection screen which used four Barco 20K projectors.”
Pete’s Big TVs crew included Matt Ellar, Brent Jones and Rob Villalobos.
“We always enjoy working with Tom Kenny and Anton Goss; we’ve worked with them on the MTV Woodie Awards and other shows in the past. This was our first time to work with the Cartoon Network,” Benjamin said. “We’ve been working with more television lately because of the screens we’re providing which are silent with no electronic noise, yet high in resolution for TV broadcasts. These are the features TV productions are demanding.”
Along with hosts basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and Nick Cannon of “America’s Got Talent,” a slew of other celebrities showed up as presenters such as Jessica Alba and Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte, including entertainment from UK pop band The Wanted.
The Hall of Game Awards are being shown throughout February on the Cartoon Network’s channel and website.
