Bullock credited the Aura’s “unique” beam quality, internal LED backlight and “high-speed beam functions, color changes, and beam timing” and compact size as key assets.
“With just a few lights you can flood the entire audience, and bouncing between the internal and external effects with the zoom moving allows for a new range of eye-candy effects,” he noted. “As with the new 101, the Aura is incredibly fast and agile.”
For video, the tour is using a combination of Martin EC-20 (40 units) and LC panels (12 units), blending 20 mm and 40 mm pixel pitches. “All of the floor towers and video in front of the backline needed to be small and unobtrusive, and the EC-20 was the only product with the resolution and modular design to fit the bill.”
The largest single screen is 40 feet wide and hangs off two lighting trusses, with the lower-resolution LC panels placed all the way upstage so that all of the LED screens appear the same visually. Video processing is handled via a P3-200 System Controller.
