“It’s a terrific opportunity for us and serves as recognition of the commitment we have made to safety in the entertainment industry and the years of experience our inspectors bring to each venue,” noted Bill Sapsis, president.
“While the size of the fleet is formidable, our teams of inspectors, all of whom are ETCP-certified, are well prepared for the challenge,” Sapsis continued. “The equipment, especially on the newer ships, is state-of-the-art, but getting to them will be a bit of a challenge. As you can imagine, there’s not a lot of wasted space on a cruise ship.”
The scope of the inspection program includes safety inspections of the performance spaces on each ship. Most ships have two venues, but the Oasis class of ships — Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas — have three to four.
Sapsis Rigging has been conducting safety inspections since 1983 and has inspected venues in 49 states as well as venues in Latin American and Canada.
