AUSTIN, TX — Shock Boxx, a new pre-rig lighting truss shock system designed to protect truss-mounted lighting and video equipment in transport, is the result of a collaboration between Heather Roberts of Kai Knox Technologies and Scott Almand of Scott Almand Designs.
“In this economy, extending the life of expensive equipment is more important than ever,” said Roberts. “Crossing your fingers and hoping that all your gear arrives in tact just doesn’t cut it. That’s why we created Shock Boxx. It provides a layer of protection that doesn’t exist in truss systems today.”
A Shock Boxx unit is comprised of a box-shaped carriage system, a shock system and locator bars. First, the carriage system is positioned snuggly inside the pre-rigged truss. Then the shocks are installed on the sides of the truss. Finally, the locator bars are positioned in the desired location of the lighting fixtures. Integrating Shock Box into existing truss inventory is designed to be fast and convenient, with a retrofit kit designed to be installed in less than 10 minutes.
“Shock Boxx provides a stable base with adjustable PSI components that eliminate hard impact and allow lights to glide gently up and down during transport, reducing wear and tear,” said Almand. “It’s kind of like the air ride systems in long-distance hauling rigs, but this neutralizes energy within the truss system itself.”
Available in multiple configurations and sizes, Shock Boxx is compatible with standard pre-rig truss (26 in. x 30 in.) or the HUD/GT truss (14 in. x 24 in.) system. Shock Boxx begins shipping on July 1st and pre-orders are being accepted now.
