No, it's not a flightcase for an iPhone; e-CASE is 5 Star Cases' new (and free) iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad app. The company, which has been making cases for 30 years, already offers a quotation request app on its website; e-CASE lets it be used via mobile handheld devices. As long as a 3G, WiFi (preferably) or an EDGE signal is present, e-CASE can be used to configure case projects.
e-CASE allows the user to browse, configure and select all of 5 Star's "Case Type" products then send the request direct to the design and quotations team at 5 Star. The App doesn't suggest actual specifications but is intended as a design aid for proposed case requirements.
For each Case Type, the app includes technical drawings, full descriptions, information documents and 3D generated images. In the Options sections, users select various settings for the proposed case – e.g. dimensions, equipment details, color, casters, finishings, etc.
Once the user has entered their personal or company contact information – e-mail, postal address, contact numbers, etc., the details are stored for future use.
All of the case data, images and documents are downloaded from 5 Star's web server.
This method of the app's development ensures that updates to 5 Star's Case Type ranges are fully automatic and do not require an update of the App itself.
It is intended that future releases of e-CASE will include full 3D functionality.
