Philips Vari-Lite Introduces Five Smaller Luminaires

Based upon the technologies inside two of their fixtures, Philips Vari-Lite has announced the new VLX3 LED Wash, VL400 Spot, VL440 Spot, VL770 Spot and the VL880 Spot luminaires. Based on the VLX Wash luminaire technology, the VLX3 Wash uses three LED engines to offer colors, intensity and a multi-year source life. The three, replaceable 120-watt RGBW LED chipsets provide output that offers three times the efficacy of comparable tungsten sources.  The the total system provides approximately 6,000 lumens of white light output, and 10,000 lamp hours.

The VLX3 offers a dynamic CRI adjustment, a continuously adjustable color temperature white range between approximately 3000 and 9000 Kelvin, and color mixing that all combine to create a single source that behaves like familiar arc or tungsten luminaires. Beam size control is achieved by the use of an optical zoom system that offers a zoom range from approximately 15° to 55°.  All movements are smooth, silent, and accurate with a full 540° of pan and 240° of tilt control. Accessory mounting points are also included allowing the attachment of additional, aftermarket beam control devices such as an extendible top hat.

The VL400 Spot luminaire uses a 400-watt MSR Gold 400 MiniFastFit lamp to provide 9000 lumens of output, plus 14 fixed colors on two independent color wheels for color projection and snap color changes. In addition, a dual-purpose mechanical blade system provides smooth timed fades or variable strobe effects.

The VL440, VL770 and VL880 Spot luminaires all provide color mixing through the three-wheel CYM color assembly based on the Series 3000 color system. They each have eight standard colors on a fixed wheel, a coated glass dimmer wheel, a separate dual-blade strobe system.

The VL440 Spot has a 400-watt MSR Gold 400 MiniFastFit lamp providing 9000 lumens of output.  The VL770 Spot is complete with a 700-watt MSR Gold MiniFastFit lamp producing an output of 15,100 lumens.  The VL880 Spot has an 800-watt MSR Platinum 35 lamp providing an output of 19,000 lumens.
