Martin MAC 401 Dual LED Washlight with Zoom

Share this Post:

The Martin Professional MAC 401 is an LED moving head washlight with an double-sided design for dual functionality, letting it work, for example, as a double washlight or beam reflective mirror. The fixture can output up to 6,600 lumens, power consumption is 370W with all LEDs at full, and the LEDs themselves have a projected working life of 50,000 hours. Each unit is equipped with 36 multi-color single-point source LEDs, which blend colors at the source before they leave each lens. The LEDs are calibrated at the factory for color consistency across fixtures. A large lens face can also produce a broad beam look.

The MAC 401’s beam angle can be adjusted with a fast linear zoom for spreads from hypermode tight to a wide wash. Zooming from wide to hypermode takes less than 0.5 seconds.

The MAC 401 Dual’s double-sided design also adds to the fixture’s versatility. A plug-in feature allows users to add modules to the back of the fixture — other LED modules or special effect modules — for new creative possibilities.

The fixture’s 36 lenses are grouped into four equal segments, each segment with individual color and intensity control. An accessory gel frame holder allows LDs to insert frost filters or other custom filters.

A host of built in effects allows the user to create a variety of different looks quickly, and overlay effects channels can help create more effects or control each LED segment individually.

For applications where noise is an issue, a silent mode option bars fan use for extended periods for noise free operation. Another boon for television and film production is the fixture’s flicker-free performance on camera. A fast mode setting can also be used to boost pan/tilt speed when needed.

For maximum control flexibility, both RGB and Hue/Saturation control modes are provided. Firmware updates via DMX input make it easy to add new software features.

Because the LEDs only draw power when light is emitted from the fixture, and only at the level needed, the MAC 401 Dual provides significant energy savings over HID fixtures that run continuously at full or near full power regardless of light level.

The fixture is designed for the rugged requirements of the rental market, yet is also lightweight enough to be used in a variety of applications. A modular design with easy-access components streamlines service and maintenance, and the MAC 401 Dual will also support RDM feedback protocol as a future firmware release.
