Robe Lights Up The Producers in Slovakia

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Slovakian LD Martin Kubánka specified Robe moving lights for the musical The Producers, which is being staged at the Istropolis Congress Hall in Bratislava. "The most important thing for any theatre show is silent running and that was a big reason for choosing Robe,” said Kubánka. Although the musical is undoubtedly producing plenty of laughter and applause, “even large spectacular musicals like The Producers have quiet moments."

The Robe fixtures for this production are rigged onto a series of over-stage trusses. Kubánka is using 10 ColorSpot 575E ATs and six ColorSpot 1200E ATs, plus 10 Robe Scan 575 XTs and six ColorWash 575 ATs.

Kubánka was able to meet the show’s lighting requirements, including set and stage washes for the big musical numbers, along with practicals, specials and key lighting, with this judiciously-sized rig.  He added six Robe ColorMix 575 ATs for additional color changing effects throughout the show.

"I used Robe on this for the same reasons as always," Kubánka said.  "The lights are very reliable, they offer a serious amount of functionality and allow me to be as creative as the brief demands." Kubánka particularly liked the quality of the color mixing facilities on all Robe fixtures.

Kubánka has worked closely with show director Andy Hryc and choreographer Jan ÄŽurovćík on staging the production. Kubánka and Michal Schmidt programmed the show’s lighting cues into a grandMA console, and Schmidt now runs the timecode-triggered show.

All lighting and sound equipment for The Producers in Bratislava is supplied by Slovakia's Q-99, which has the largest rental stock of Robe available in the country.
