NASHVILLE- Bandit Lites is working with the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business again in 2009 for the fourth year in a row, providing equipment and assisting in the lighting design and direction for the six-concert showcase series. Belmont University students run the Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business Showcase Series. They handle lighting, sound and stage design for other students who perform, gaining hands-on experience in the production of concerts ranging from Christian, Urban/Pop, Country, Rock and other genres of music.
“Bandit Lites provides more than just lights,” said Erik Parker, a Belmont student and producer of the Country showcase. Bandit staffers, Parker noted, help with such real-world tasks as budgeting a rig. Bandit LD Chris Lisle has also taught several courses at Curb College. Bandit, Parker added, “does an amazing job at working with each showcase's student lighting designers in making their idea a concept.”
“We are very appreciative of the ongoing opportunity to be involved with the future leaders in the music industry at this developmental stage of their career,” said Brent Barrett, Bandit business development officer. “Belmont is a first class university and we are honored to be able to continue building a positive relationship with its students and staff.”
The showcase series, which has run since Sept., has two more performances for this school year, set for Feb. 21 and April 25.
