G-Lec’s U.K. Office has Architectural Emphasis

{mosimage}LONDON — G-Lec is opening a sales office, G-Lec UK Ltd., in central London. The subsidiary will manage all sales for architectural and other installations, while supporting G-Lec’s U.K.-based rental partners. Lars Wolf, managing director of G-Lec Europe, noted that, up to now, rental projects have been the focus of G-Lec’s business in the U.K. With the new sales office, however, the company will be putting more emphasis on architectural products.

“Chimera, which we launched at PLASA this year, is a strong product for us,” Wolf said. “We already have 700 square meters installed in the BMW Museum in Munich, and we are getting a lot of inquiries. We need a full time sales office in England and, as we have other partner companies in Europe and the Americas, it made sense to form G-Lec UK.”

Along with sales, G-Lec UK will also support the company’s existing U.K. rental partner, Creative Technology, and others as they are appointed. “The rental market continues to be important to G-Lec — this was where our business started and it is remains core to our business model,” added Wolf, Wolf, who is the majority shareholder in G Lec UK.

Bryan Norton, managing director and co-shareholder of G-Lec UK, pictured here, left, is a native New Zealander with a background as a film and TV lighting cameraman. He has also worked at Strand Lighting’s London office, and was introduced to Wolf, pictured right, through a mutual friend.

“When I first met Lars, he was looking for a U.K. partner, and as we talked, I knew we held the same values,” Norton said, adding that “Lars and his team aim for excellence in everything they do. I also realized that my creative background was a perfect fit for G-Lec, because these are not box products, but a means of achieving visual concepts. I am looking forward immensely to collaborating with our clients to help them realize their visions.”
