Producers Bet on Safe Rig for German TV Show

DUSSELDORF — On a scale of difficulty, supplying a safe rig might not rank up there with identifying your cows blindfolded, solely on the basis of the noise that they make while munching apples. Or as dangerous as pushing a car with a spear — the tip of which rests on your throat.

{mosimage}But the point of the new Movecat BGV C1/SIL 3 vario system used for ZDF’s Wetten, dass? TV program, which showcases bizarre and difficult stunts, was for events service provider Aventem to supply a moving rig system without any mishaps.

Aventem opted for a Movecat I-Motion network system with 16 VMK 500 chain hoists, V-Motion 30, NDB-6 and the SIL 3-certified Expert-T control system in a bid to keep people working on the set — including international performers like Herbert Grönemeyer, Anastacia, Tom Jones and The Pussycat Dolls — safe during ZDF’s production of the show, which requires fast-paced scenery changes with performers on stage.
