“Constellation” Lights Up Covent Garden Market

LONDON — The Covent Garden Market Halls are attracting visitors inside to see visual effects created for “Constellation,” a light show by United Visual Artists Ltd. to accompany musical performances and other holiday events. TarmLED GmbH & Co. KG supplied 578 two-meter-long, double-sided LED strips and 37 data power distribution units (DPDUs) for the fixtures decking the halls.

The LED strips incorporate TarmLED’s Strip 25 modules introduced earlier this year. These LED strips were incorporated into polycarbonate tubes coated with a semitransparent reflective film, in accordance with UVA's design. The TarmLED DPDUs were also customized for the installation.

Because the DPDUs allow for cable runs of up to 20 meters using a single CAT5e cable which carries data and power to each fixture, the tubes can hang in their own space, creating a voluminous visual effect through the 25mm pixel spacing of the TarmLEDs and UVA’s grid layout pattern. UVA used its d3 production system for control.
