Using Lighting to Raise Diabetes Awareness

Share this Post:

NEW YORK — See Factor Industry, Inc. created a blue wash for the United Nations headquarters building for World Diabetes Day, Nov. 14. The U.N. also led a concerted effort to use lighting to wash 1,101 monuments and landmarks around the world in blue as a way to raise diabetes awareness. See Factor’s Alban Sardzinski used a combination of 10 Showgun automated luminaires from High End Systems, 24 Martin MAC 2000 Wash fixtures and four Coemar SuperCycs to create the blue wash over the face of the building.  Christina See programmed the event using a grandMA console and DMX signals distributed via wireless SHoW DMX.

Along with the U.N. building, other well-known structures and places lit in blue included:

•    The Plaza Colon in Monte Caseros, Argentina
•    The Southern Star in Melbourne, Australia
•    Brussels City Hall in Brussels, Belgium
•    Memorial da America Latina in Sao Paulo, Brazil
•    Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada
•    The CN Tower in Toronto, Canada
•    The Great Pyramid of Cheops and the Sphinx in Giza, Egypt
