CARACAS, Venezuela — After a U.S. and European tour, The Invisible Friends made a homecoming televised appearance before a live crowd of 6,000, lit by LD Luis Plaza. Plaza’s company, Island Professional Illumination Company, also supplied the lighting gear for the show, including more than 50 moving lights from Robe. Plaza, who has used Robe products for the last six years, had 26 Robe ColorSpot 1200E ATs hung on overstage cross trusses, complemented with eight ColorWash 1200E ATs arranged around the stage and roof. Another 16 ColorSpot 1200s were rigged onto a straight truss and two S-shaped trusses.
Plaza specifically likes the brightness and the quick movement of the Robe 1200 Series, and also their ability to work well with televised broadcasts.
The Invisible Friends were formed in the early 1990s and fuse disco, funk and acid jazz with Latin rhythm and style. The name refers to a greeting used by Venezuelan intellectual Uslar Pietri as the start of the TV program, Human Values.
