LEDs Travel with Elisa’s Mechanical Dream

VERONA, Italy — Before taking her Mechanical Dream show from her native Italy to the U.S. and Canada, Elisa performed the show before 20,000 fans at the Arena di Verona, and show designer Mamo Pozzoli used 32 PixelLine 1044s to frame the large, multi-level set, hanging the 1044s side by side in groups of two. The show uses art forms that include dance, cinema, poetry and music, grouped into two separate themes: dreams and machines. “I needed a powerful LED fixture that would help me transpose the lighting language of the two souls of the show concept,” said Pozzoli. “The 1044s have got that unmistakable industrial character and that brilliant personality — able to combine fast graphics and smooth pulses.”

Lights and visuals gradually reveal the details of the set, designed with an industrial, futuristic look. The lighting plot follows this style with a geometrical and repetitive approach. The result is a deliberately choreographed performance of two parts: A mechanical part, filled with rhythms, electronic sounds and reality, and the imaginary, dreamlike poetical side.

The show was created and controlled by a grandMA, which Pozzoli programmed and operated. Nuovo Service supplied the lighting, and Italian rental partner Musical Box Rent supplied the PixelLines.
