CHARLESTON, SC —Glassware company Stolzle USA and Production Design Associates (PDA) co-hosted an event at Memminger Auditorium recently that served as a showcase for PDA’s staging technology and design ideas. The theme for the evening involved the four elements — air, fire, earth and water. Using LED fixtures, curtains, an LED dance floor, projectors, video servers and circular trussing, PDA created vignettes of a fully-equipped concert stage, giving guests the feel of rocking the house as a Guitar Hero. The gear list included four Martin MAC 250 Entours, eight Coemar LED Pars, five Source Four Par Bars, fiberoptic star curtain, a Christie 5K projector and a 7.5-foot-by-10-foot LCD screen from Da-Lite.
PDA’s Wedding Vignette, by contrast, which included a kabuki reveal, offered a more serene vignette with Asian-inspired florals, bamboo flooring and red and gold décor accents that used video as a décor element as well. The educational portion of the evening also included a segment on Stolzle’s wine glasses and how they are designed and made.
Live entertainers included aerial acrobats, fire breathers and costumed dancers, and the food and drink also followed the event’s four-element theme. The party room included Airstar Lunix balloons suspended like planets overhead, a Coemar medium-resolution LED curtain and backdrop, a fiber-optic ice sculpture from Ice Age, four 10K+ DLP projectors, Apollo gobos and Applied Electronics/Staging Dimensions Pixel Panel LED staging.
