LONDON — XL Video announced the formation of a new division, XL Events, which has been created by consolidating the corporate division of XL Video and AV specialists Show Support. Located in Bromsgrove, U.K. and Hemel Hempstead, U.K., the division will be headed by Rich Rowley, who will oversee 23 associates. Pictured here, from left to right, is Rowley and XL Video managing director Lee Spencer. The division will provide sound, lighting and AV gear and support, along with project management, according to Rowley. “We have a vast pool of knowledge and creativity, plus access to a wide variety of equipment,” he said. “As part of the XL Group of companies we have the resources to offer the most comprehensive and cost-effective packages and support involving everything from providing the technical infrastructure to the logistics of making an event happen efficiently.”
XL Video MD Lee Spencer added that, “we’re predicting a very positive future for a company designed to offer flexible, creative, leading-edge solutions in a time of economic volatility. XL Events will also fill the void left by other rental companies who are now chasing end-user work. There are many production companies out there in need of love and support.”
The XL Group has already invested in excess of half a million British pounds in the new company, and predicts to do at least the same again over the next 12 months.
XL Events has access to an array of in-house equipment including conventional, digital and LED lighting. XL Events has invested in Martin Professional moving lights, the Catalyst DL series, along with Philips SSL ColorBlasts and ChromaQ ColorBlock LED, with WholeHog, MA Lighting or Avolites for control.
XL Events also has access to XL Videos stock of broadcast quality cameras, HD PPUs and LED screens for all applications. There are also a host of more ‘exotic’ alternatives at their disposal including F-LED11, Spider 40, MiStrip, MiTrix and Stealth gear, which can be customized for different events.
The division’s collection of projectors includes machines from Christie, Barco and Digital Projection, and the company’s list of media servers and show control gear includes Catalyst, Hippotizer, D3, Pandora’s Box, and Folsom Encore fleets.
XL Events can also offer content pre-visualization in 2 or 3D and content creation, as either a separate or bundled service, through its two equipped and staffed HD Creation Studios.
Current and upcoming XL Events work includes shows for Price Waterhouse Coopers at the new Atlantis Hotel Dubai, the MPH08 Show in the U.K. and Ireland and audio and video for a CBeebies production in December and January for BBC Worldwide.
