Part One

The past month not a whole lot has been going on with me. I’m sure I could have sat down and told you all about my personal life but who really wants to hear about that? I don’t even want to think about it from time to time. I learned from other colleagues that this is typically a slow part of the year for touring so it didn’t bum me out too much, but I am definitely a guy who likes to keep busy. So in brief I was bored off my tail but that didn’t stop me from getting things ready for this next tour with Bonerama. The tour kicked off at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado starting a two week run through 11 states. To get ready for it I had to do some organization and a little bit of shopping. Recently I got a new Hog 500 from t2k lighting. I spent my time doing mostly data entry and some programming offline with a capture visualizer. When you have a large catalogue of music to work with every night you have to perform a lot of data entry to organize the show in the way you see fit. So I guess we’ll see how it all goes down.

Part Two

So a few shows have passed and it has been very exhausting. Kicking off a tour in the high altitudes of Colorado has taken a toll on me. We started with Boulder and it went very smooth. The house crew received my lighting plot and did a great job getting house pars and technobeams ready while I built my rig. Only thing that didn’t quite work out the way I wanted was the new console. The console wouldn’t read my mouse properly (probably because it was a ps/2 to serial adapter) and so there was no way to access my external monitor, which is essential for a Hog 500. Without having full control of my desk I then had to pull out my old console and go with it from there. The show still rocked and I made the best out of it. Next we headed up to Crested Butte, CO which is about 8,800 feet in altitude. This is a small town with tons of snow and a small venue to light. Par 38s rigged into the ceiling with multi colored gel and no dimmer packs. My favorite venue to light………….. ;). Moving on we climbed even more up to Telluride at 10,500 feet for a fun show at the Sheridan Opera House. This is a fun room to light. I specifically like the rose colored light bulbs all around the theater. Since there were no ACLs or eight lights I utilized the rose light bulb look for my ACL/eight light feel. It worked out awesome and it was hip to see visually. Next stop was down the mountain a bit to Denver’s Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. This is a fun room because of the huge mirror ball the have rigged over the dance floor. I had an output problem with one of my moving heads but with a special thanks to their house LD Jamie we got the show ready. After the show I was completely drained and could not wait to get my 5 hours of sleep to get up and head to Taos, New Mexico… To be continued, with tour pics. Thanks again for reading.
