A.C. Lighting
A.C. Lighting, the exclusive worldwide distributor for the Chroma-Q™ product range, will be showing the new Chroma-Q Color Split. The modular LED fixture’s dual side-by-side RGBA cells provide lighting designers with the opportunity for single color or split color. Its lenses are designed so that the wide-angle lens in one cell washes the lower portion of a surface, while the narrow lens projects the beam higher. The Color Split also features an RGBI (magic Amber) control mode. With its built-in power supply, it can be used in standalone mode.

As the exclusive European, North American and Middle East distributor for Jands lighting products, A.C. will also be showing the new Vista M1 playback-only control surface. The M1 is designed to provide all the playback benefits of a Vista show in a portable hardware-control module aimed at trade show booths, hotels, clubs, etc. Designed to be used with a laptop, PC or Mac (Windows XP/Windows Vista or OSX) running the Vista software, the M1 features five playbacks, including faders and flash buttons, plus a rotary master fader.

Avolites
Avolites will launch its latest pearl console, the Pearl Tiger, at PLASA 2007. This is a streamlined 10-roller playback version of Avo’s most popular live lighting console. The Pearl Tiger is fully show compatible with all Avo Pearls, and shows can be loaded and swapped between these consoles. It offers all the Pearl features, including Theatre Playback, timecode, MIDI triggers, etc., and can send 2,048 channels to 240 moving lights on four isolated DMX outputs. It also has 10 playback submasters, expandable to 15 with external playback wing. The system can save multiple shows to internal flash disk or external memory stick, as well as being able to load or save any Pearl show. It comes with a full personality library in the console, with free updates on the Web site and is supplied with a color LCD VGA screen.

Also featured at the show will be Avolites’ Pearl Expert console and the new D4 Infrastructure products — specifically Avo’s Showsafe system, the Tablet PC for remote desktop control and the D4 Pilot Parallel control. Showsafe is a completely independent backup system for the Diamond 4 and Pearl Expert consoles. Avo’s Tablet PC Remote Desktop Control WiFi technology allows full remote wireless access to all the D4 console’s functions from anywhere in the venue. The D4 Pilot Parallel Control addresses the more frequent requirement for TV lighting directors and DOPs to have direct control over a selection of fixtures for key and camera lighting.

Elation Professional
Elation Professional will be showing the Design Spot 575E — a larger 575-watt version of its Design Spot 250 “hybrid” effect, which functions as both a spotlight and a color wash. The Design Spot 575E is a moving-head fixture that offers both Frost and Iris capabilities in one unit. The Frost feature is what allows it to function as a hybrid, taking away the hard edges of a spotlight and converting it to a wash-type fixture. The Frost is variable type, so users can control how much edge is taken away. The Iris is designed to pinpoint performers at any distance and is also capable of creating a pulse effect.

The 24-channel Design Spot 575E is equipped with a Philips MSR 575/2 SADE 575-watt 750-hour lamp to illuminate large shows and venues. It’s equipped with a rotating animation wheel, which is designed to allow users to create vertical and horizontal effects such as clouds, rain, fire and water. It has dual rotating gobo wheels for use in morphing effects. The unit includes 12 interchangeable metal and glass gobos. {mosimage}

Kinesys
Automation specialists Kinesys will highlight two new hoist control products — Smart 8 and Sentinel — along with their new K2 control software.
The Smart 8 expands on Kinesys’ existing Power 8 product and offers full-positioning facilities built into a standard hoist controller. Smart 8 allows fixed-speed encoded hoists to be programmed and controlled from a single unit. The Smart 8 can be located near the motors it is controlling and doesn’t need to be operated from a central location. It comes in a low-voltage and a direct-control version and accepts traditional pulse encoders and incremental encoders. Cues can be programmed directly into the Smart 8 using its large graphical LCD display and intuitive jog wheel interface or can be downloaded from Kinesys’ K2 or Vector software packages.  Once programmed, cues can be triggered either from the controller, from another connected unit or via DMX.

Sentinel is a range of fully BGV C1-compliant controllers designed to work with CM Lodestar BGV C1 chain hoists. On display at the show will be the Sentinel 8-M, the 8-channel manual control entry-level unit.

K2 is Kinesys’ 3D motion control programming and playback system. This program will allow complex cues to be programmed and played back visually on-screen for instant feedback.

Also being featured is the Kinesys Elevation Beam Trolley system, a product designed to complement the Elevation Chain Hoist system. Similar to the hoist conversion, a simple electrical modification allows the trolley to be plugged into the Kinesys Elevation 1+ controller, providing variable speed control and positioning of the trolley.

It weighs 41 kg and comes with self-locking helical gears. It has both right- and left-hand grooved drum winding, preventing lateral movement, and there are limit switches and over-travel protection. It is supplied with low-voltage controls and remote pendant facility as standard and operates on either 400 V three-phase (50 Hz) or 220 V single phase (50 Hz) power supplies.

LTM will also launch a standard range of three Guardian motor controllers. These are available as rack-mounted, movable flight cased units or wall-mounted systems for permanent installations.
