I like the heading of this particular blog. I say this because for me demoing products is like Christmas for me! I’ll know what I’m getting one time and then I won’t the next. Well let’s start with what I know I have gotten and that is five- Color Block DB4’s from A.C. Lighting and the Viper NT fogger from Look Solutions. I had the privilege to establish these two contacts at the USITT in Phoenix this year. Everyone was really cool and helpful talking to me about their products. They also were kind enough to extend their hand out further to let me demo them! So here we go…
The Color Blocks are great set pieces for me. Since I am always running around in different clubs that always means I have a different stage with different surroundings. I like this because it gives me the opportunity to position the blocks either by a guitar amp, under a drum riser, against some fabric, mounted on some truss, and I even used them to line an umbrella canvas! These LEDS have so many more fun things to play with. To start they can run in 9 different modes and in each mode it will use a certain amount of channels with different kinds of functions (saturation, hue, red, green, blue, intelligent FX, fanning, speed, range. It varies depending on which mode you select. I prefer mode- 7 (9 Channels). The color block uses 4 pin XLR that goes to the PSU module to set your address, slave/master/stand-alone, etc. After your color blocks are run properly you have DMX (5 pin) in/outs to run cable to your control console or to other lights. I love using these blocks in the different scenarios it challenges me to find intriguing spots from gig to gig. Here are a few pictures…

The Viper NT allows you to make fine adjustment increments of 1 percent to get exactly what you want out of the fog thick or thin. It has a DMX and Analog mode also include a stand alone feature. There is also an internal timer to plan out exact moments you want to use the machine. The machine has points to allow it to be hung from above it need be. The fogger power requirement is 1300 watts and has a fluid capacity of 5 liters with a max projection of 15 meters. The unit has 3 different control modes. Stand Alone, Analog, and DMX. This fogger is great I normally use a entry level fogger but it likes to spit out juice when it's backed up and barely has any of the options that Look Solutions NT Viper provides. These make a great quality product with many other varieties of machinery both fog and haze.
